Code of Ethics

Authors should observe high standards with respect to publication ethics (details of which can be found on the website of the Committee on Publication Ethics-COPE). Falsification or fabrication of data, plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the authors’ own work without proper citation, and misappropriation of the work are all unacceptable practices. Manuscripts published or accepted for publication elsewhere must not be submitted to Annals of the Institute of Biology - University of Sarajevo.

If experiments involving human or animal subjects or tissues have been carried out, then a statement about ethical approval must be included in the Material and Methods section (name of the designated competent authority, number and date of the ethical committee approval).

Animal research

Experiments with animals should be performed in accordance with the legal requirements of the relevant local or national authority. Procedures should be such that experimental animals do not suffer unnecessarily. The text of the paper should include experimental details of the procedure and of anaesthetics used. Work that involves animal behaviour should follow ASAB's Guidelines for the treatment of animals in behavioural research and teaching. The ARRIVE guidelines must be followed when preparing manuscripts for Annals of the Institute of Biology - University of Sarajevo.
